W... W... W... Wednesdays ~ Nov. 5, 2014

Oh, my! It's Wednesday already! It's time for W... W... W... Wednesdays, which is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. To play along, just answer the following questions.

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you'll read next?

What am I currently reading? I've started my Christmas reading by reading The Heart of Christmas by Brenda Novak. I'm really enjoying it! Even though this is the seventh in the series, it stands alone just fine.
I receive this book from NetGalley, so I should have a review up soon! It looks like I'll have a nice little selection of Christmas stories to bring to you!

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading Icons by Margaret Stohl. I enjoyed this dystopian story about Dol, a girl who is one of four kids who survive the effects of the Icons. Why did they survive? What makes them special, and how can they help the people that are under the control of the House of the Lords. The Lords are aliens who came to colonize the earth. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Idols! -Another book read for my Dystopian Book Challenge!

What do I think I'll read next? Hmmm... I'm not sure. I have a few books coming my way that I would like to read, but if they don't get here soon... I still have Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen to read. :D

  1. Interesting choices, Candy! I admit I'm not a big reader of dystopians but I do pick one up occasionally.

I'm currently reading Joy Dawn King's A Father's Sins. I'm almost halfway through and am enjoying it. Lizzy's caring for an injured Darcy at the moment, which I always love. I'm also kinda sorta still in the middle of Henry V but I don't think I'm in the mood to finish it.

Next I plan to read Joana Starnes' The Falmouth Connection. Then perhaps a Christmas themed book. Last year I don't think I read any of those.

  2. Hi Monica! I like that whole underdog going against an oppressive government thing, and survival type stories. Lol! :)

Oh, I'm glad you're reading A Father's Sins! I haven't read it yet. I like when Lizzy cares for an injured Darcy and visa-versa.

Good for you for at least reading part of Henry V! I didn't. :/

I have 2 more Christmas books to read this year, This Christmas by Katlyn Duncan (which I'm part of a book tour), and Holidays with Jane by many of our favorite Austenesque authors! :)

    1. I bought Holidays with Jane the other day so I'll definitely be reading that in the next few weeks.

The thing with dystopians is (you've probably heard me say this before), it seems like so many authors choose names for their characters, worlds etc that just do NOT flow easily through my mind! Lol It's like they purposely choose the oddest names possible. And sometimes they freak me out because some of the stuff could actually happen one day! Lol I know this is a huge generalization of the genre but it seems to be my experience so far.
