What are you Reading?  Let me know what your current read is, what you recently finish reading, and what you plan on reading next! 

Here's my list: 

I just started The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A Flynn! I'm looking forward to getting into this one! 







I was on the road last Wednesday, so I have a few more finished reads since it's been two weeks since I last posted! 

I recently finished Son of a Preacher Man by Karen M Cox. This Austen inspired story is beautifully set in a little southern town in the summer of 1959. Billy Ray, the preacher's son, loses his heart to Lizzy Quinlan, a girl with a bad reputation. I loved this coming-of-age story! 

I also finished Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon. I really enjoyed this story! So much so that I bought the next in the series! :)

Plus, I finished reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I wasn't a fan of this story. It was kind of depressing. I'm glad I read it though! 

What's next? I want to read The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I've had this book for a couple of years now and haven't read it, but I would like to read it before the movie comes out!

Here's my list:

I'm currently reading Son of a Preacher Man by Karen M Cox. I'm loving this 1959 coming-of-age story set in a little southern town. I'm not very far into it, but it's already caught my attention! 

I didn't finish anything this week. I'm still working on The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I'm having a hard time getting into it, but I'm not giving up yet! :) 

What's next? I'm thinking about reading The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A. Flynn.  It looks interesting!

Here's my list: 

At the moment, I'm reading Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau. I decide to pick it back up before starting a new book. I started listening to this on a road trip and didn't finish it. So, now I'll finish reading it on my Kindle.

I recently finished reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I loved it! Not only did I enjoy that Cath writes fan fiction, but I found Cath's story so interesting, too; her family, college life, and romance. 

I also finished Game of Thrones. It was good, and it was just like the first season of the show. It was really helpful for getting a better grip on the details and remembering all the names! I plan on reading the next one. Have you read the GoT?






What next? I'm not sure. School's starting today. Ugh! Lol! There goes all my free time. ;)

We Are the Goldens is an interesting story about two sisters, Layla and Nell Golden. Told from Nell’s point of view as if she is speaking to Layla; as if the reader is Layla.

Layla and Nell Golden are only about 17 months apart in age, and Nell has always adored Layla. Even calling herself Nellalya, as if they were one. Two years apart in school, Nell is going to be a freshman this year and is thrilled to be going to school with Layla again. It’s going to be a perfect year! They’re even going to play on the same soccer team as Nell made the varsity team. But things aren’t going the way Nell planned, Layla is acting different, and she is pulling away from Nell.

There is something going on, Nell can feel it. Something is not right with Layla. Slowly throughout the year Nell starts putting the pieces together. Layla’s got a secret. A big secret, and when Nell knows what it is she has to decide what to do about it. Because secrets can eat away at you….even if you are keeping them for someone else.

There are a few things I really loved about this story. I loved the way it was told. I loved Nell’s best friend Felix. He is funny and he always reminds Nell that she’s the only one who thinks Layla is perfect. Another thing that I loved is this, Nell talks to two dead boys, Duncan and Parker Creed. The brother’s died when they were 14 and 16 years old. 

I would have liked to see a little more of the story played out. The ending of the story is left up to your imagination. I mean, you're pretty sure you know what’s going to happen, but it’s left open for interpretation.   

I really enjoyed reading We Are the Goldens and read it very quickly! This Young Adult novel is about growing up, making mistakes, and realizing, the sister you idolized ...isn’t so perfect after all.

I really enjoyed reading The Road to You! It was a pleasure for me to step back in time and take a trip down Route 66 in this coming-of-age romantic mystery! 

When Aurora finds her brother’s journal (her brother and his best friend, Jeremy have been missing and presumed dead for two years now) she turns to the only other person whom she can trust to help her on her quest to find out what happen to them... Donovan. The thing is... Donovan, who is Jeremy’s older brother, is also the last person she wants to be around. He makes her nervous, every nerve in her body comes alive just thinking about him. Together they set off on an adventure with the hope of finding their brothers alive.

I love the chemistry between Aurora and Donovan! Aurora has always been attracted to Donovan, and he’s always felt there was something special about Aurora, but in the past she was too young. Spending so much time on the road together only intensify these feelings, but they need to put them aside to concentrate on the task at hand; finding Gideon and Jeremy.

Donovan, who Aurora calls Mr. Tall, Dark and Intense, is really very sweet and protective of Aurora - even though he’s a tough guy on the outside.

I liked Aurora’s intuition; her ability to read people. She can see much deeper into people than what’s on the surface. (It’s a quality that appeals to Donovan too.) Aurora always felt everyone might be wrong about Gideon; that maybe he was still alive. After all his body was never found, and the investigation ended all-too-soon to Aurora's way of thinking. 

I also loved that The Road to You is set in the late 70’s. Aurora and Donovan are without many of the conveniences we have today, like cell phones, internet and GPS. To do research, they would have to find a library in whatever town they were in and study old newspapers that were stored on microfiche.

It was fun trying to figure out the mystery with the clues in the journal and the information Aurora and Donovan picked up along the way. The Road to You kept me guessing all the way to the end!

I loved The Road to You! I found myself wanting to listen to some of my favorite bands from the 70’s! I definitely would recommend this one!
