I hope you are well and keeping safe! Oh, I have been on a reading slump lately! I finally finished a book. Lol! So, here's what I've been reading for the last couple of weeks.

Current Read

I'm currently still reading What's Left Of My World* by C.A. Rudolph. I'm almost finished! Yay! It's a good story, but I'm not sure if I was really in the mood to read a post-apocalyptic story at the moment. With all the unrest in the country.

 

Recently Finished

I finished reading Secondborn (Bk 1)* by Amy A. Bartol. This is the first of three books in the Secondborn Series. It was very good. Lots of world-building and it leaves off unfinished so you'll need to read the whole series. Secondborns are born to serve firstborns and to replace them if they die. They are second class citizens and have no rights. Of course, a rebellion is coming! :) ~ 4 stars.

What next?

I'm going to start The Jane Austen Society* by Natalie Jenner. I'm so looking forward to this! Hopefully, it will get me out of this slump!

I'm currently reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I've enjoyed re-reading this series. 









Recently Finished:

I finished reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I think this is my favorite of the series.








What's next? 

I'm planning on reading Sanditon by Jane Austen for my JASNA reading group that meets this month. I'm excited to dig into this! It will be my first time reading it. Have you read it?

I'm currently re-reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Wow! I forgot how good these books are! I'm burning through this one.








Recently Finished:

I finished reading The Bride of Northanger by Diana Birchall. I enjoyed this gothic sequel to Austen's Northanger Abbey! A curse on the Tilney family and mysteries at the Abbey makes for a delightful regency Halloween read! ~ 4 stars







What's next? 

Most likely I will read the next in The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.

Currently Reading:

I've just started reading The Bride of Northanger by Diana Birchall. I'm looking forward to digging into this sequel to Austen's Northanger Abbey! 







Recently Finished:

I recently finished re-reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Again, I really enjoyed it! ~ 5 stars

I also read Wool by Hugh Howey! This was a great story! So very interesting! These people are living in this huge underground silo because the earth above is very toxic. Law and order have to be strictly regulated. If something should go wrong, it could mean the end of their society. When people break the law, they are sent out to clean the cameras outside - their link to the world above ground. The cleaners never survive long. But there's trouble brewing for the people in the silo! ~ 5 stars




What's next? 

I may re-read the next in The Hunger Games series, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. It's been 5 years since I've read this series.

Current Read:

I'm currently reading Wool by Hugh Howey. I've only just begun, so I don't have much to report. 








Recently Finished:

I recently finished reading Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Curtis Sittenfeld. I really liked it! Meredith @ Austenesque Reviews and I read it together, texting along the way, which I'm sure only made the read that much more enjoyable! I'm working on a review now, but you can check out Meredith's review on Friday! 

I also finished Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes. It was good! This YA deals with mental health issues in a light, positive way. 








What's Next?:

I'm thinking about re-reading The Hunger Games series.

Happy Wednesday, my friends! How has your week been treating you? My week's flown by, as usual!  

Here's my list: 

Currently Reading:

I'm reading Prepared (Sundown Series #1) by Courtney Konstantin. It's exciting! But I guess I didn't read the book blurb very carefully (I must have read only the first sentence! Lol) because I didn't realize this was a zombie/apocalypse story! I love apocalyptic stories, but I could do without the zombies! It's still really good! :) This is Courtney Konstantin's debut novel.

I've also read some more in The Annotated Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and David M. Shapard. I'm trying to read a couple chapters a day. Some of Shapard's remarks are so interesting. 







Recently Finished: 

I finished Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp. This was a strange, sad, and mystical (or maybe magical, or a little of both??) story. It dealt with bipolar disorder, suicide, grief, and a strange town. 3 stars. 







What's next? 

I think I'm going to read The Final Six by Alexandra Monir, or I might read the second in the Sundown series. I'll let you know next week!

I skipped last week's What Are You Reading post because nothing had changed. I'm happy to report that's not the case this week! :) 

Here's my list: 

I'm currently reading Black Sheep by Georgette Heyer. I'm joining Meredith @ Austenesque Reviews in reading this. She will be posting discussion questions today and her review on Thursday! Join us if you want! 

I recently finished reading The Unforgettable Mr. Darcy by Victoria Kincaid. I loved it! I practically read it in one sitting! I'm crazy about stories where Darcy and Elizabeth are in a situation where they have to depend on each other to get through it, or in this case, survive! - 5 stars! 

I also finished The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I really enjoyed this! I adored Ruby, Liam, Chubbs, and Zu! Wasn't too fond of some of Ruby's decisions, but I want to read the next in the series, Never Fade. Plus, I'm ready to see the movie! Anyone else? - 4.5 stars

What's next? Maybe, Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. We'll see!

I've just started reading The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. 









I recently finished reading The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A Flynn. It was so good! I have to admit to a slow reader like me the first half of the book, while fascinating, was a little dry. So many details. Now the second half of the book flew by for me! I loved it! 






I also finished reading The Hitman's Mistake by Sally Brandle. This was good. Lots of action and exciting scenes, but I wasn't fond of the insta-love and the conversations that seem to repeat themselves. 







What's next? I'm thinking about reading The Unforgettable Mr. Darcy by Victoria Kincaid. It sounds like a fun book! :)

Here's my list: 

I just started The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A Flynn! I'm looking forward to getting into this one! 







I was on the road last Wednesday, so I have a few more finished reads since it's been two weeks since I last posted! 

I recently finished Son of a Preacher Man by Karen M Cox. This Austen inspired story is beautifully set in a little southern town in the summer of 1959. Billy Ray, the preacher's son, loses his heart to Lizzy Quinlan, a girl with a bad reputation. I loved this coming-of-age story! 

I also finished Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon. I really enjoyed this story! So much so that I bought the next in the series! :)

Plus, I finished reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I wasn't a fan of this story. It was kind of depressing. I'm glad I read it though! 

What's next? I want to read The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I've had this book for a couple of years now and haven't read it, but I would like to read it before the movie comes out!

Here's my list:

I just started Gray: Part 1 by Lou Cadle. Sounds like a fun survival story!

I recently finished reading Dear Sir, Dear Madam: A Pride and Prejudice Novella by Mary Simonsen. I loved this! Sometimes I get annoyed with the restraints of the Regency period, so I was happy that Darcy and Elizabeth pushed the limits of propriety and wrote a few letters to one another.

I also finished Blood Red Road (Dust Lands #1) by Moira Young. It was so good! I loved it! The cover compares it to The Hunger Games, and I'd have to agree in that Saba the protagonist is strong and determined. She finds herself in a situation that she doesn't want to be in, but has no choice. The story is action packed! As this is the first in the series I was happy that it ended in a good place; not a major cliffhanger. In fact, it felt complete. 

What's next? I think I'll try Calming the Storm by Melanie
