Winter by Marissa Meyer ~ My Review

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Publication Date: November 10th, 2015
Publisher: Feiwel and Friends
Pages: 824
Received: Purchased my own copy.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I was so excited to read Winter, at the same time I wasn’t in a hurry to read it because I knew it was the end of one of my favorite series, The Lunar Chronicles. It was bittersweet, knowing the series was coming to an end, but as the same time, I couldn’t wait to see how it was going to end!

I love these characters, Cinder, Prince Kai, Iko, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, and Thorne! Now with the addition of Winter and Jacin, there's more to love! But at the same time, there's almost too much going on - too many characters to follow. And at 800+ pages it’s also the longest book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

I had hoped to reread this first three books of the series before reading Winter because it had been so long since I had read them, but didn’t, instead I jump right in! The first hundred pages or so we touch base with all the characters to see where they’re at in the story. That part was a little slow for me, but soon after the action begins. It’s non-stop excitement, as Cinder and the gang travel to Lunar and try to defeat evil Queen Levana!

I loved the fairy-tale aspect of the story, and the Star Wars-y feel! Did Thorne remind anyone else of Han Solo?

If you’ve not had the pleasure of reading The Lunar Chronicles, I’d suggest you do so quickly! This futuristic, fairy-tale is awesome! With a continuing storyline, the series starts with Cinder, and the story keeps building, adding new characters with each book; ending with an exciting conclusion in Winter!

What are you Reading? ~ Jan. 13, 2016

What are you Reading? is my weekly Wednesday meme! You are welcome to join me, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you plan on reading next?

What am I currently reading? I'm almost finished with Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom. It's so good! I never really thought about what it would be like to be blind, except for trying to get around and doing things without seeing, but not what navigating around relationships would be like. Parker is a brave, strong girl with a list of rules you do not want to break. To break a rule is to lose Parker's trust, and you can't get that back.

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading Winter (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer. I love this series and hate to see it end!

What do I plan on reading next? I hope to get to The Twisted Road to You (Perfect, Indiana Book 4) by Barbara Longley.

What are you Reading? is my weekly Wednesday meme! You are welcome to join me, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you plan on reading next?

What am I currently reading? I'm currently reading Winter (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer. Oh, I'm so loving it! I started it before Christmas but put it aside before I got too far into it because while traveling I listen to a couple of audiobooks.

What did I recently finish reading? I finished three books since my last What are you Reading? post:

What I Didn't Say by Keary Taylor. I loved this story!!

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City Book 1) by Penny Reid. Loved this romantic comedy!

Darcy and Elizabeth - Answered Prayers: A Pride and Prejudice Short Story by Mary Lydon Simonsen. Another great story! Although, it was much too short! (only because I wanted to see more of Darcy and Elizabeth)

What do I plan on reading next? I want to read Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom. This is the book that came in December's Uppercase subscription box. My goal is to read them as I get them! Lol! Fingers crossed! ;)

What are you Reading? ~ Dec. 23, 2015

I've just started, but I'm so excited to read this!

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading Lucky 13: Matchmaking and Misunderstandings by Cat Gardiner.

I also read Alone with Mr. Darcy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation by Abigail Reynolds.

Both of these are Pride and Prejudice retellings, one modern and one regency. That's two more to add to my Austenesque TBR 2015 reading challenge. I need to read two more to complete the challenge!

What do I plan on reading next? I'm not sure. Hopefully, I can get a couple more Austenesque reads in!

What are you Reading? ~ September 2, 2015

What are you Reading? is my weekly Wednesday meme! You are welcome to join me, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you plan on reading next?

What am I currently reading? I'm currently reading Emma Knows All by Laura Briggs and Sarah Burgess. It's good so far! I'm seeing a lot more Pride and Prejudice in this one than I had expected. I'm so curious to see how this is going to play out!

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading  Daisies Are Forever by Liz Tolsma. This story was inspired by two women who actually lived in Germany during WWII and actually experienced many of the situations in the book. I enjoyed it.

What do I plan on reading next? I'm thinking,  Fairest: The Lunar Chronicles: Levana's Story by Marissa Meyer. I want to read this before Winter comes outs, which I'm super excited about!! Who's with me?! :D

W... W... W... Wednesdays ~ March 12, 2014

W... W... W... Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. To play along, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you'll read next?

What am I currently reading? I am just beginning Consequences by C.P. Odom. This Pride and Prejudice variation sounds interesting! From what I hear, the first half is a heart-wrenching account of when Elizabeth turns down Mr. Darcy's proposal at Rosings, and the second half shows the flip side, what would happen if she were to say yes. Stop by tomorrow and read an excerpt of Consequences! You can also enter to win a copy of the book!

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading Cress (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED this book! The whole series is fantastic! I think each book is better than the last, and I have loved them all! I can't wait for Winter, the next book in the series, to come out!

I also finished reading A Lasting Love Affair: Darcy and Elizabeth (A Pride and Prejudice Variation) by P.O. Dixon. It was a quick read. I should have a review up soon!

What do I think I'll read next?  I'm not sure. I have a TON of books on my TBR pile. I might read Insurgent (Divergent, Book 2) by Veronica Roth. We'll see!

W... W... W... Wednesdays ~ March 5, 2014

W... W... W... Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. To play along, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you'll read next?

What am I currently reading? I am currently reading A Lasting Love Affair: Darcy and Elizabeth (A Pride and Prejudice Variation) by P.O. Dixon. I am not very far into this, but I usually love Dixon's stories, so I'm sure it will be good!

What did I recently finish reading? I finished reading Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer, and let me tell you how much I loved this book! I LOVED IT! Scarlet is searching for her grandmother and Wolf is helping her, but we don't know if Wolf is a good guy or a bad guy. And Cinder is on the run from Queen Levana (the Lunar Queen). They team up to try to stop the Queen from waging war on the earth. I would be reading Cress right now, but I had to order it. Which leads me to...

What do I think I'll read next? Cress (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer! Of course!! I'm super excited to start this! This series is fantastic! I had no idea I would love it so much. Although, I'm a big Star Wars fan, and this does have a Star Wars-y feel to it.  So, it makes sense.

Btw, I love the covers to The Lunar Chronicles too!
