W... W... W... Wednesdays ~ June 26, 2013

W... W... W... Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. To play along, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you'll read next?

What am I currently reading? I'm reading two books actually. I'm doing a group read with Austenesque Reviews. We are reading Abigail Reynold's new book, Mr. Darcy's Noble Connections. It's a lot of fun reading it with a group! At the same time, it's hard not to read it straight through! Fortunately, the questions are daily, so it's going quickly! There's still time to join us! I'm also reading, Traitor's Knife by E. Kaiser (to be released July 9th). I just started it, so I don't have a feeling about it yet.

What did I recently finish reading? This week I finished reading One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend both by Monica Murphy. I LOVED both of them! After finishing One Week Girlfriend, I found out there is a sequel (more like a continuation) to it - Second Chance Boyfriend, so I had to read both!

I also read The Breeders by Katie French. This book was a very different read for me. I think it was the first dystopian book I've ever read. I was looking for a change - to try something new. It was good. I was surprised at how much I liked it. I don't think I will read another one though, but you never know!

What do I think I'll be reading next? I'm not sure. I think I'll read Dare You To by Katie McGarry. I'm also getting a new Pride and Prejudice variation to read, His Uncle's Favorite by Lory Lilian! Woot!

What are you reading?

  1. Hi Candy!
I'm so glad you enjoyed One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend, I really liked them. There are two follow ups planned to these, in case you didn't know, the first of which deals with Jen and Colin who Fable works with, and the next story is due to be about her brother, the lovely Owen.

Lately I have read Pirates and Prejudice, which I thought was great, such fun, which I then followed up with a non-austenesque to clear my brain ready for the group read of Mr Darcy's Noble Connections. I'm enjoying this one, and also it's nice to be doing a group read but I am a bit worried about the characters and I've been trying not to read ahead. Once the group read is finished I'll probably read it again to really savour it!

After that I have to finish Death Comes to Pemberley. I have good motivation this time; the friend who lent me the book has asked to lend my paperback Of 'The Last Man in the World' by Abigail Reynolds and I'm afraid she might keep it hostage until I give her book back!

    1. Hi Ceri! Oh, yes! I loved them! I didn't know about the other two books that are planned! Fantastic! I'll look forward to reading them.

I know what you mean by reading something else to clear your brain. I have to do that too. That's one reason I read "The Breeders" - totally out of my normal.

I have a confession to make, as I was reading my chapters last night in MDNC, I accidentally read too far! I didn't realize it until it was too late...so I decided to finish the book!

Haha! Looks like you're finally going to have to finish Death Comes to Pemberley! ;)

    2. Hmm, 'accidentally' read too far, or genuinely accidentally?!

Ah well, we can finish it now. I have amazed myself that I've stuck to the schedule. If I'd been reading it over a weekend I probably wouldn't have been so good, I have less time in the week to read. It has also helped that the sections didn't end on cliffhangers :)

The worst of it is with DCtP that I should probably read the beginning again to remind myself of it, but I don't really want to; I might just plough through with it!

  2. So glad you are joining the group read, Candy! I'm glad it fit into your schedule! And LOL! I'm glad the schedule wasn't too hard to follow!

Lory's new book looks interesting, doesn't it? :)

    1. Hi Meredith! Yes! It's fun reading with everyone! I love the questions that make me look deeper into the story - like the symbolisms, I never would have seen those.

Yes! I'm looking forward to reading Lory's book!

  3. I have just started to read Searching for Captain Wentworth by Jane Odiwe. I was lucky enough to win it in a giveaway and I am looking forward to getting lost in its pages. Persuasion often vies for me with P&P as my favourite Austen novel.

I recently finished reading From This Day Forward by Joana Starnes. I don't normally read sequels to JA novels, I prefer what-ifs. I love the dance of the courtship and prefer to leave them to wander off into the sunset once they are together, but this book really swept me in.

I plan on reading Austensibly Ordinary next by Alyssa Goodnight (you can see a theme, I am sure!) I have a lot of Austenesque reading to catch up on as I haven't read very much at all over recent years as I was so wrapped up in editing.

I am endeavouring to join in on the group read of Abigail's new book, but I had already read it right through before it started (no will power!!!) and am struggling with time to re-read the relevant chapters and respond to the questions (busiest time of the year at work and no time)! I am loving reading everyone's comments when I get chance though and hope to participate some more before it's over!

    1. Hi Cassandra! I'm sad to say I haven't read any of these Austenesque books! There are so many I would like to read! I like you I prefer what-ifs rather than sequels. I do want to read Austensibly Ordinary! I loved Austentatious!

  5. Let's see. I'm late to the WWW party, but I just finished This Love by Nazarea Andrews and then I'm going to read His Uncle's Favorite one more time, then I think I might read a short story I have, Treasuring Theresa by Susana Ellis. We shall see. ;) Oh, and I forgot to mention, I also just finished Abigail's book for the group read! :)

    1. The group read was so much fun! You all did a fantastic job! I'm looking forward to the chat this Sunday! I still need to read Abigail's out takes.

I can't wait to read His Uncle's Favorite! I have it now, so I will probably read it before Dare You To.
