How well did I do in my 2014 Read Challenges?

Hey Everyone! Here's a quick wrap-up on my 2014 Reading Challenges:

I exceeded my goal of reading 60 books on my Goodreads Reading Challenge by reading 64! Woot!

I signed up for the "A Friendly Hug" level (11 to 20 books) for the 2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge, hosted by Bookish, and I made it! Barely. I read 11 books! You can see the list of books I read for this in my 2014 Reading Challenges page. I did not review any of these books. I just enjoyed them. :)

And last, but not least, the 2014 Dystopia Reading Challenge, hosted by Blog of Erised. I completed this one too! I read 20 books!! Woot! Again, you can find a list of books read on my 2014 Reading Challenges page

I'm pretty happy about reaching my goals! **throws confetti** I still have many books on my TBR pile, so I am going to be doing the TBR Pile Reading Challenge again, but I've missed the sign-ups for that. Well, that won't stop me! I will make my own. In fact, I'm doing all of these again, and I'm adding one more for 2015, Austenesque Lovers TBR Pile Reading Challenge 2015

Did you do any challenges in 2014? How did you do?

  1. Nicely done, Candy! I'm a challenge hound. I have little self-control and end up signing up for several every year though fortunately they allow for crossover with the books to count on more than one.
I managed to make all my 2014 reading goals though I just skidded through under the wire for my TBR pile challenge last year.

Oh and yay! Glad you're doing Austenesque Lovers TBR pile challenge too. We'll conquer it! ;)

    1. Thanks, Sophia Rose! You also can read super fast! I would sign up for a ton of challenges too! Lol! ;) I like having a goal for the year, and I like keeping track of what I'm reading. I am also a sorter. The challenges I did last year were also crossover book counts, but I didn't like putting the same book on two different lists. It felt redundant. As I'm writing this, that seems kinda silly, as books CAN fall into different categories! But for my personal count, I put them in one category only.

I'm getting my 2105 Challenges together and should have them all posted today. I've been participating in the Bloggiesta this weekend to get caught up on my blogging.

You're the moderator the of Austenque Lovers challenge, right?

  2. In 2014 I signed up for one reading challenge on a blog that was new to me. Then I couldn't find the blog again. (Head bowed in shame.) this year I am only doing one - Austenesque @Goodreads with Sophia Rose and so many of my friends. I've gotten a great start though I've slowed already. I am definitely looking forward to getting my TBR under control. Does that ever really happen?

I'm looking forward to following your progress too.

    1. Hi Joy! Oh, no! Too funny! Sounds like something I would do!

Yay! I'm so glad you're doing the Austenesque Lovers Challenge, too! It looks like quite a few of us are! And NO, I don't think I'll ever get my TBR pile under control, but I don't want to ignore it either. I'm hoping to read at least one book from my TBR pile every month.

      Thanks!

  3. Hey Candy! Congratulations on hitting your goals! I did very badly on my goals last year, I didn't hit my goodreads challenge because I had a reading blip in the autumn, I usually read a couple of books a week and I went down to around a couple a month. This year I have set a lower Goodreads challenge, and I've joined Sophia's Austenesque Lovers TBR Goodreads group. I have also set myself my own little challenge - I aim to read a non-P&P Austenesque read every month.

I saw an interesting reading challenge on facebook a few weeks ago. I think if you google pop sugar 2015 reading challenge you'll find it, or something very similar, there are a number of tickboxes such as Pulitzer prize winner, book from the year you were born etc, and while I don't intend on trying to tick them all I thought I might see how many I tick off in the course of my usual reading, and maybe it might make me try something new that I wouldn't otherwise have considered.

    1. Hi Ceri! Thanks! Sometimes we hit those blips, don't we. Better luck this year! Yes, I like that you are going to try to read a non-P&P once a month. That's kinda like my TBR pile - those are all non-Austen.

I checked out that popsugar reading challenge. In fact, Kelli mentioned it on another challenge post, she is doing it. It does look like a great way to read different books! I like the check-off boxes, and it's a cute banner.
